Description

The new Winter Weather Supply and Storage Building will be located behind the Clayton County Jail on Post Way in Jonesboro. The facility will be used to store approximately 14 days of cold weather material such as salt, sand, and gravel. In addition, it will serve as storage for a salt brine maker and brine solution and house snowplows and spreaders.

October 2024: Central Services is preparing to procure design services for the facility.

September 2024:  Central Services is preparing to submit an Invitation to Bid requesting design services.

August 2024: The Invitation to Bid requesting design services has been prepared and will be published by Central Services.

July 2024: An internal meeting with Transportation and Development is scheduled for mid-August to discuss the specific departmental needs for the new building.

May 2024:  A request for design services is expected to be issued by Central Services, followed by a request for construction services.

April 2024:  Planning, design and construction is awaiting Central Services to announce the selection of a general contractor.

March 2024: Project bids have been received and Central Services has started the evaluation process.

February 2024: Clayton County Central Services hosted a project outreach and site visit with potential vendors on Feb. 22. Five contractors attended the Industry Day to gather specific project information.

January 2024: Central Services is hosting a pre-proposal conference on Feb. 15 and a pre-bid visit on Feb. 22 prior to resubmitting a request for bids from vendors.
