Description

This project consist of constructing an asphalt ADA accessible walking trail from Plantation Parkway crossing over Harbour Town Parkway continuing to Harbour Lake Drive cul-de-sac through 16.32 acres.

October 2024: The project is now 100% complete.

September 2024:  Final adjustments are being made to the walking trail by Prime Engineering. Sealing and striping is expected to start on September 19, 2024. All work is scheduled to be completed by September 30, 2024.

August 2024: The contractor has completed paving and sod and grass seed have been laid.

July 2024: The trail is 97% complete. Contractors are finishing up the last of the paving and working on the project punch list.

June 2024: The walking trail is approximately 97 percent complete with total completion planned for the second week in July 2024.

May 2024: The general contractor, Diversified Construction, is milling portions of the trail in preparation for repaving sections previously deemed noncompliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The project is expected to be completed by June 27, 2024.

April 2024: Repairs are underway to correct the initial paving of the trail. Installation of a 200 ft.t. stormwater pipe is projected to begin in May.

March 2024: Corrections are being made to the paved trail to meet the required 5% slope per Americans with Disabilities Act compliance.

February 2024: Diversified Construction has completed paving on the northern and southern portion of the trails. A task list of items needing correction has been provided to Diversified Construction by Prime Engineering, which includes repaving of several portions of the trail. Planning, Design and Construction is awaiting an updated project timeline from Diversified Construction.

January 2024: The general contractor has discovered several portions of the recently paved trail does not comply The Americans with Disabilities Act requirements. As a result, six sections will need to be removed and repaved to guideline requirements. Officials with Building and Maintenance are working with the vendor to make repairs as well as established a revised work timeline. The cold weather this month has halted additional paving for now.

December 2023: Paving of the trails has been completed by Diversified Construction. The contractor is now paving the walkways to connect the street to the trails.

November 2023: The north end of the trail has been paved and striped. Paving on the southern portion of the trail is set to begin in December, however, cold weather may delay the original completion date of Dec. 25, 2023. Asphalt requires an outside minimum temperature of 45 degrees to be laid.

October 2023: Paving of the new walking trail has started with a completion date set in late November.

September 2023: Prime Engineering is clearing and leveling the trail in preparation for laying asphalt. The next step will be to determine the placement of the paved trail within the clearing.

August 2023: Prime Engineering has begun clearing land for the trail. The 10-foot-wide walking path will be open to the Clayton County community once complete.

May 2023: This phase of project is pending finalization of the contract with Diversified Construction
